Guillermo Ruiz-Pava is a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS). He received his Ph.D. in management from Los Andes School of Management, Bogotá-Colombia. With a B.A. and a master’s degree in Economics, his current research focuses on how evolving social structures (i.e., social networks) enable or hinder technological innovation. He has an interest in a specific social structure known as the routine (a network of actions). Now at MIT, he is working on what a patent citation network represents, how it evolves, and which role played the social and economic interactions of important actors, like researchers and organizations, in shaping that network.
