Labs and Centers

Laboratory for Information & Decision Systems (LIDS)

Rigorous computational and analytical approaches for analysis and design of complex systems in IDSS are anchored in research developed at the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS), which forms the research backbone of IDSS. LIDS, the longest running research lab at MIT, is a global leader in advancing information and decision sciences. Its research cuts across core engineering disciplines, building foundational knowledge for research and applications across many different domains and application areas.

Sociotechnical Systems Research Center (SSRC)

The MIT Sociotechnical Systems Research Center (SSRC) is an interdisciplinary research center that focuses on the study of high-impact, complex, sociotechnical systems that shape our world.  SSRC brings together faculty, researchers, students, and staff from across MIT to study and seek solutions to complex societal challenges that span healthcare, energy, infrastructure networks, the environment, and international development.

Statistics and Data Science Center (SDSC)

The Statistics and Data Science Center (SDSC) is an MIT-wide focal point for advancing research and education programs related to statistics and data science. The SDSC is a window on the cutting-edge research in statistics and data science that is performed at MIT, characterized by a unique integration of computation and domain knowledge to statistical questions.
