IDSS lives at the forefront of the data revolution. Complex systems in our society such as transportation infrastructure, social networks, and power grids are becoming more connected and producing more data. There is a growing need for data-driven, interdisciplinary research and education — and a growing need for students and researchers across disciplines who are trained in advanced data analytics.

IDSS brings together these students and researchers from every school at MIT to work on projects that integrate methods from statistics, science and engineering, and the social sciences. Our academics and research initiatives are motivated by major societal challenges like climate change, fake news, and urbanization.

Our work is supported by individual donors and industry partners who join a network that includes our faculty, our research staff, our students, and our alumni.

We welcome you to become a part of our community by subscribing to our newsletter and exploring options for alumni connections, giving to IDSS, and industry partnerships.
